Section VI - From Shoot to Wrap
Stepping onto set as an Intimacy Coordinator means more than ensuring safety—it's about understanding the visual and structural language of filmmaking so you can collaborate fluently with every department. This section begins with Intro to Shooting, where we ground you in foundational film studies: how shots are structured, how scenes are built, and why visual storytelling choices—from framing to shot sizes to angles—directly impact power dynamics and the portrayal of intimacy on screen.
You'll learn how to interpret and anticipate the needs of each phase of a shoot day, understanding not just the rhythm of production but how to insert your presence strategically and respectfully. Through detailed lessons on camera composition and coverage, you’ll gain fluency in shot types, framing conventions, and cinematic angles—tools that will allow you to advocate for ethical, effective visual storytelling without compromising artistic intent.
This module also demystifies the production ecosystem. You’ll be introduced to the roles and responsibilities of key departments—the Director of Photography, the 1st AD, the Script Supervisor, Costume, and more—so you know when and how to engage each team in service of your performers and the scene. You'll practice protocols for calling the roll, navigating multiple takes and setups, and staying alert to garment integrity, consent continuity, and on-set politics in real time.
By the end of this section, you won’t just be ready to show up on set—you’ll know how to lead with presence, translate intimacy into cinematic language, and collaborate across departments with confidence and clarity.
